I specialize in helping students and professionals improve their written communications skills.
Learn to write an excellent cover letter, craft a successful college application essay, or communicate more effectively in emails, memos, and reports.
The first thing I'll do in our first lesson is listen to you. I'm interested in who you are as a person, as well as your academic and professional aspirations. By giving you a chance to talk, I'll get a sense of what you hope to gain by working with me. Then, I can build lessons that are tailored to your particular situation. Alternatively, we can go to work editing and sharpening a particular piece of writing, in order to further your career or education.
I'm qualified to teach you. I have degrees in English and History from the University of Virginia, and a degree in English / Composition Studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. I've taught first and second year college writing classes, many of them focusing on business English. I've worked extensively with ESL students in Virginia Tech's writing center.
Please note that I only accept students with a working knowledge of English, who are hoping to improve their written and verbal skills.
