Learning a language as an adult can be scary. My goal is to help you feel confident so that you can speak more and develop fluency.
QUICK FACTS ABOUT ME
~ I have a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Georgetown University.
~ I started teaching English in 2010 in South Korea. I have also taught in Costa Rica and the United States. (Sí, hablo español. 네, 한국말 할 줄 알아요.)
~ I have experience teaching general English and academic English. That means if your goal is to succeed in an English-speaking university, I can help you!
If your goal is to become a fluent English speaker, sign up for the conversational course. You will absolutely see an improvement in your speaking.
ABOUT CONVERSATIONAL LESSONS
In our first lesson, we’ll talk about your English goals and what kinds of topics you want to discuss. The goal of each lesson is to successfully complete a speaking task. Here are some examples:
~ Talk about your city or neighborhood for 3-4 minutes.
~ Explain how technology affects your daily life.
~ Imagine you’re meeting your favorite author. Explain why you love this author’s books.
Remember, the topics will be what you want to discuss.
STEP 1: PREPARE FOR THE TASK
~ watch a video, listen to an audio, or read a text
~ learn new vocabulary, grammar, and/or conversational strategies (like how to politely disagree with someone)
~ prepare answers to some discussion questions
~ create your own discussion questions
STEP 2: PRACTICE DURING THE LESSON
~ discuss the video, audio, or text
~ practice using the key vocabulary, grammar, and/or conversational strategies
~ get quick feedback to correct your most important mistakes, including pronunciation
STEP 3: PRACTICE MORE AFTER THE LESSON
~ get detailed feedback (Sample Lesson Feedback)
~ complete speaking homework and send me the audio
~ get more feedback on your speaking homework
STEP 4: COMPLETE THE TASK
~ complete the task at the beginning of the next lesson
~ move on to a new topic if you successfully complete the task
~ review the topic again later to improve your fluency
